About Chromatic Coffee from www.chromaticcoffee.com

We’ve been in the industry for years, with experience in cafes, roasteries, and the equipment manufacturing business. For years we’ve watched as corners were cut and the easy way was chosen, over a longer, rockier road to ultimate quality. In 2012 we decided that we were ready to do it ourselves and do it right. We started with a plane ticket to El Salvador and a sample roaster in a basement.

Since then, we’ve taken everything into our own hands, from printing our bags, one by one, in house, to modifying our roaster to better suit our roasting styles. As soon as you pick up one of our bags, you might get the feeling that we’re a bit different; by the time you have a cup in your hands, you’ll know it.

About Victrola Coffee Roasters:

from victrolacoffee.com

From the beginning, Victrola, named for the popular home phonograph of the 1920′s, embraced the liveliness, exuberance and fun of the Jazz era. In our popular imagination the roaring 20′s represent excess, prohibition, flappers, and speakeasies. The era’s fingerprints mark much of what we do, from our passion for live vintage jazz to our cafes unique architectural charm.

When Victrola opened in 2000, the little 15th Avenue neighborhood had a big need. The community not only lacked great coffee it also had few great spaces to hang out or to meet friends. The cafe was so popular after only a year we doubled our space, taking over the storefront next door. In 2003, we took a huge step and began roasting our own coffee in the tiny back room of our café on 15th. In the cramped back room we spent countless hours experimenting with roast profiles and blends for our espresso. Early on, we committed ourselves to the task of sourcing, roasting, and preparing the finest coffees available. Since then, innovation has marked our roasting operations and coffee preparation.

In 2007, we cut the ribbon on Victrola’s showcase cafe, located in an old 1920′s auto row building just off downtown at the base of Capitol Hill, complete with our roastery, training facility and cupping room. This beautiful cafe is an exceptional place to learn more about coffee at a tasting, watch the roasting process, or simply enjoy a great book.

In 2009 Victrola acquired a great neighborhood cafe just down from the Library and light rail station on Beacon Hill. This cute little space reflects the comfort, passion for quality, quirkiness and community feel that characterizes all of Victrola’s cafes.

Now, as Victrola moves into a second decade, we look forward to new opportunities to fuel our passion and show our exuberance. We are actively seeking out new neighborhoods to share our great coffee and community space with, new partners to serve our coffee, and new and deepened relationships with farmers and producers.

The Bronx Brewery Story:

“The Bronx Brewery is a small, craft brewery in the Port Morris section of the South Bronx. It was launched in 2011 by a small team with two things in common: a maniacal focus on creating high-quality beer and a passion for the Bronx and New York City. Its traditionally-crafted pales ales use only premium and minimally-processed materials to create fresh, bold beer from a borough known for its own uniquely bold character. The team is enthused to bring a rich brewing tradition back to the Bronx and craft a beer that the people of the Bronx and New York City can be proud to call their own. You can find their beers throughout New York.”

About Artisanal Premium Cheese:

“Artisanal has revolutionized cheese appreciation in the United States by making the world’s finest cheeses available nationwide as never before. What sets Artisanal Premium Cheese apart is the art of affinage – an ancient practice by which our passionate cheese professionals complete the cheese maker’s labor of love by patiently nurturing each of the 200 cheeses we offer to optimal ripeness and peak flavor. With a dedicated staff of affineurs, and state-of-the-art aging caves, Artisanal alone provides top quality cheese for fine-dining restaurants, specialty gourmet stores, and to directly to consumers. Experience the difference of cave-aged cheeses – available in gift baskets, cheese gifts and monthly cheese clubs – that represent the best available from around the world.”

About Rick’s Picks:

Intini Affiorato Extra Virgin Olive Oil

INTINI

Obtained by blending Olivastra, Coratina and Provenzale olives, which are hand-picked on the hills of Alberobello and Capitanata in Italy, this oil comes from the old, rural traditions of manually gathering the oil which would naturally float on the freshly milled olive paste.

AROMA: Medium-to-intense fruitiness, marked by green scents which recall chicory, tomato leaves and freshly-cut grass.

TASTE: Enveloping and energetic, with clear, bitter tones, it releases stimulating, spicy sensations.

MATCHINGS: Ideal for dishes with a medium to robust taste such as barbecued, red meats, grilled vegetables and tomato-topped bruschette.

Cocktail Crate

cocktailcrate2

Cocktail mixers done differently. Cocktail Crate mixers are crafted in small batches with whole, fresh, and organic ingredients and locally hand made in Long Island City, New York. They are also very simple to use; just add ice and your favorite spirit. There’s also the option of using seltzer water instead of spirits to mix up some very tasty sodas. You can find three flavors of Cocktail Crate (Lavender Bloom, Ginger Bee, Smoky Hops) in our Mixology section.

From cocktailcrate.com:

Forget what you think you know about pre-made cocktail mixers.  Our mixers are different.

At Cocktail Crate, we use only whole, fresh, and organic ingredients to flavor our mixers.

To sweeten them, we use local wildflower honey and organic cane sugar.

We think that by taking high quality ingredients and developing recipes that bring out the best in them, we can craft mixers that make serving great tasting cocktails as simple as combining mixer, spirit, and ice.

If you like the sound of what we’re doing, we are always sampling our mixers at different spots around NYC and would love to have you stop by for a tasting. We will be Smorgasburg in Williamsburg every Saturday this year and you can also check out our twitter for the latest info on where we’re sampling or check out the list of stores where we are always on sale. We don’t think you’ll be disappointed you did.
